On-premise HRMS or cloud: one product, two editions

An on-premise HRMS runs on servers your organisation controls instead of the vendor's cloud. NanoHRMS ships one build in two editions: every plan runs on our cloud, and Enterprise customers can run the same product on-premise in their own environment, with the same modules and no separate fork.

Cloud or on-premise: what differs

The software is identical in both editions. What changes is who operates it and where the data lives.

  • Cloud: we host and update it, it is available on every plan, and data is stored in our cloud.
  • On-premise: your team runs it in your environment with our support, it is available on the Enterprise plan, and data stays in your infrastructure.

What the customer runs on-premise

The on-premise edition is the same NanoHRMS application and its PostgreSQL database, installed in an environment your IT team controls.

Before an install we agree the environment and the upgrade process with your IT team, and support terms are set in the contract. AI features can be pointed at a locally hosted model.

Controls in both editions

  • OpenID Connect single sign-on per tenant and passkeys (SAML 2.0 is on the roadmap)
  • SCIM provisioning from your identity provider
  • Tenant security policy: password rules, lockout, session and idle timeouts
  • Append-only audit events, hash-chained per tenant
  • PostgreSQL row-level tenant isolation and field-level encryption

How to choose

  • Choose cloud if you want us to run hosting and updates.
  • Choose on-premise if your policy requires HR data to stay in your own infrastructure and you have a team to operate it.
  • Most evaluations start on a cloud tenant set up with you, including for on-premise customers.
